Yes! Pick-up games are for all skill levels and we love to welcome and teach new players.
Most ages are welcome to play! We don't want to discourage anyone from playing, but while this is not a physical game it is an active one so young children might be best suited to stay on the sidelines.

We play in dog-friendly locations, but there is not a lot of shade at the beach and there are few-to-no options to tie up a dog at both our field and beach locations.
Not really. While there are drinking fountains at the school where we play our field games, it isn't next to the field. Players should bring ample water to stay hydrated.
A pickup game is an Ultimate game where anyone is welcome to come and play. It is not uncommon to see seasoned veterans play alongside brand new players and people over 60 playing with people under 18. Most new players are introduced to the game in this way.

From the Rules of Ultimate:
Spirit of the Game: Ultimate has traditionally relied upon a spirit of sportsmanship which places the responsibility for fair play on the player. Highly competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of the bond of mutual respect between players, adherence to the agreed upon rules of the game, or the basic joy of play. Protection of these vital elements serves to eliminate adverse conduct from the Ultimate field. Such actions as taunting of opposing players, dangerous aggression, intentional fouling, or other "win-at-all-costs" behavior are contrary to the spirit of the game and must be avoided by all players.
